About prosify

prosify is the Texas contractor verifier. We index every active Texas HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and roofing contractor from state and federal public records, then let anyone check entity status, license validity, county registration, and safety history in 30 seconds — with citations to the original source on every claim.

What we have and what we don't

We're honest about scope. From public records we can give you everything in the "Verification summary" on each profile — entity status, taxpayer #, sales tax permit, county, formation date, organization type, safety history, and the responsible licensed person where we can match it (TDLR for HVAC and electrical, TSBPE master plumbers for plumbing).

Some plumbing profiles are marked "License-only record." Those companies hold an active TSBPE master plumber license, but we couldn't match them to a TX Comptroller sales tax permit in the same county, so tax and entity fields are sparse. The license itself is verified.

General contractors are different: Texas doesn't license them, and new home construction and remodeling generally aren't subject to sales tax, so many never appear in state registries. For them we use city building permits — who pulled permits, how many, for what kind of work, and how recently. "Permit-only record" profiles were created from those permits. We show permit ZIP codes, never homeowners' street addresses.

We do not have, and will not fake: per-company revenue, employee counts, real-time customer reviews, or executive names beyond what is in public filings. Those fields require either a paid data provider (D&B, ZoomInfo) or the business itself filling them in via the claim flow.

How we source data

Our pipeline pulls from: TX Comptroller (sales tax permit holders & franchise taxpayers, via Socrata API), TX TDLR (license search), the TX State Board of Plumbing Examiners (public master plumber list), residential building permits from the cities of Austin (public domain) and San Antonio (CC BY) open-data portals, OSHA Severe Injury Reports (federal public domain), and BLS QCEW (industry context). We respect every source's terms of service. Where a record is technically blocked from scraping (e.g. BBB profile pages, Yelp), we link out instead of forcing the data in.

Citation policy

Every significant fact on a contractor profile carries a source chip. Click it to view the original record. If we can't cite it, we don't publish it.

Corrections

If something on a profile is wrong, please submit a correction. We verify each correction against the underlying source within 5 business days. Owners can claim a profile to be notified of changes.

Legal & ToS

prosify publishes information aggregated from public sources. We are not affiliated with any of the agencies cited. Information may be incomplete or out of date — confirm any decision-relevant fact directly with the source. We honor takedown requests for non-public personal information accidentally surfaced through corporate filings.
